May I Introduce You To Mrs. Weasley

I've been married for more than seven years to my best friend. Up until a few weeks ago, I have been the only one in the house who has been blogging. And though she has put up a good fight, my wonderful wife has decided to give in to the pressure.

To make it easier on her, I've set her up with a blog here at Posterous.com. I even got all nerdy-crazy and customized the site layout to reflect her recently-acquired love of books. (She's read about 40 books since last August. Including the highly-overrated Story of Edgar Sawtelle. Thanks for nothing, Oprah Book Club.)

You see, she's not a big fan of computers. In fact, she hates them. With a red-headed passion. (Unless it involves harvesting her Farmville blueberries until the wee hours of the morning.) She stopped complaining about our collection of Mac computers after she read somewhere that John Krazinski loves Apple products. But despite her adoration of all-things-Jim-Halpert, this did little to soften her heart towards technology. I'm hoping that Posterous' super-easy blogging tools will be a good fit for her, because I am seriously looking forward to "[reading] the words that are coming out of [her] mouth."

Although she is not nearly as funny (or humble) as I am, her bones and brain tissue are filled with much hilarity. (And yes, Frau. Thems is fighting words.)

She originally wanted the site to be called The Angry Elf. While this seemed a good fit due to her 5'2" height, it was replaced last night with Mrs. Weasley. Ever since I read all seven of the Harry Potter books this summer, I have been affectionately calling her "Weasley," because of her flowing red hair and 1.3e7 freckles.

And so it is my pleasure to introduce the world to Mrs. Weasley.

(I love you, Jenny. Good luck out there.)

iPhoto '09 Facial Recognition Hates My Brother

The latest release of iPhoto from Apple includes facial recognition capabilities. Simply tell the program who is in your pictures with tags (similar to tagging people in your Facebook pictures), and eventually it will automatically recognize you and your friends.

After tagging my brother in a photo, I laughed out loud at iPhoto's guesswork. Take a look:

"He's not a troll, he's my brother!"

Guest Post: A New Baby Sister and a Video for Steve Jobs

Hello everyone. My name is Brody Russell. Uncle Alan is letting me borrow his blog for a little bit today. I hope that's okay.

I like to say my ABCs. I like to read books. But my absolute favorite is to play games on my Uncle Alan's iPod Touch. My favorite letter on the keyboard is "q." Here is a sample of what I can do with it: qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQqqqqq. I am sitting with my Uncle Alan right now because Mommy and Daddy are at the hospital. We're just hanging out.

Grandpa picked me up from my house last night so they could go see the doctor. I spent the night at Grandma Russell's house, and when I woke up in the morning, I was a Big Brother! Mommy was real brave and had my baby sister Kiley. She came into the world a little bit early, so she might have to stay at the hospital for a few days. This will give me plenty of time to clean up my room before she comes home. (Sometimes I make a mess of all my toys. I can't help it! I'm just a kid!)

Here are some things that I will do to be the best big brother in the world:

  1. Read books with my sister
  2. Share my toys
  3. Show her how to put on her flip-flops
  4. Make my sister laugh
  5. Show her how to dance
If she's really lucky, I'll teach her how to use Uncle Alan's iPod.

I can't wait until you come home! I llove yuou Kileey!

PS - If you're reading this Steve Jobs, I hope you feel better so you can invent some new cool toys. My uncle helped me use some of your stuff to make a video that will cheer you up. Hope you like it!

Where 12" PowerMac G4's Go Before They Die

I have the same laptop. I've had it for about 5 years, and it's still working great. I would like to give this a try some day before it kicks the bucket. Sure beats the pants off any of those digital picture frames.
